About me

I began training dogs in the sport of Schutzhund when I was 18. Schutzhund is an intensive sport comprised of three phases (tracking, obedience, and protection) designed to test the character of the dog and the training methods of the handler. The demands of this sport have helped me design training methods which are reliable and can be used in both competitive and basic obedience. I continue to grow and compete in the sport and am always excited for the next challenge to come my way!

We want to get the most out of your companion and this means there is no one solution to a problem. We work with both you and your dog to find what works best.

My training philosophy

My training philosophy is centered around attitude. Most anyone is capable of teaching  a dog to sit or down but it is often used as a way to control the dog’s behavior. This leads to a dog who often ignores both commands and the handler. I have found if you separate manners and obedience you get a dog who wants to work for you and truly enjoys obedience while minding their manners when out in public.

We believe manners to be first and foremost. Manners sum up to not pulling on the lead and not showing any misplaced aggression. I have found these two issues to be the most common and what people struggle with the most.

Obedience can then be viewed as a way for you to build a relationship with you dog. I want obedience to be fun and exciting for my dog. This is where you can tap into your dog’s inherent drives and begin to manipulate their behavior through play to show them how to get what they want.

This philosophy has proven successful for me and those I have helped. It is very adaptable to many facets of dog training. By using this method, you’ll find that your relationship with your dog will be much more functional and fruitful. Let me help you discover the joy in owning a dog!
